The future of intent-aware web agents in additive manufacturing

The KISS project demonstrated how AI and semantic technologies automate additive manufacturing through intelligent web agents – from order acceptance to production.

rapid.tech 3D
Erfurt, Germany

The increasing digital networking in additive manufacturing opens up new possibilities for adaptive and intelligent production processes. The KISS project demonstrated how semantic technologies and large language models can be used to capture customer requirements more precisely and automatically transfer them to additive manufacturing. Building on this, we, like the Semper AI platform, demonstrate the potential of intent-recognizing web agents that enable customers to independently specify and request complex orders. The presentation outlines our research successes to date as well as key challenges in developing such agent systems for the additive industry. Finally, we will outline a vision of the future in which we illustrate the influence web agents will have on the additive industry in the future, from sales and production to after-sales services.
